# Mental health and support groups

Where to turn if you are in emotional crisis, and how to find a therapist without insurance or at a low cost. We also explain where to find support groups, help after torture or violence and help with alcohol or drugs, and how to look after yourself while you wait for an appointment.

This is general information, not legal advice: QARAVAN has no lawyers. QARAVAN does not help anyone enter the US and cannot arrange visas, invitations, sponsorship or evacuation. For your own case, talk to a licensed immigration attorney or a representative accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice.

QARAVAN does not provide legal services: we refer people and write support letters. QARAVAN has an online peer support group in Russian; to join, fill in a short form.

- If you are in danger, call [911](tel:911). If you are in emotional crisis, call or text [988](tel:988) (free, 24/7); on a call, say "Russian" and an interpreter will join.
- Without insurance, NYC Care offers mental health care at City hospitals and clinics: fees by income and family size, from $0. You can find a therapist who speaks Russian on Psychology Today and Open Path Collective (the "Russian" filter).
- If you were tortured outside the US, email the Libertas Center for Human Rights at info@libertascenter.net with how to reach you.
