We are now QARAVAN

The name QARAVAN speaks to the movement, resilience, and shared experiences of our community members. Our new name reflects our commitment to inclusivity. Our community has always spanned multiple countries, languages, and ethnicities, and we want our name to honor that diversity.

“For me, the name QARAVAN highlights the importance of close community, chosen family, and mutual support for LGBTQA+ immigrants who are navigating together their journey of becoming new Americans,” said Yelena Goltsman, the founder and board president of QARAVAN.

“Our mission is to welcome all LGBTQ+ immigrants who face persecution and discrimination in their countries. QARAVAN is the space for those who seek safety, support, and freedom to be their full selves in their new life. We give hope, show a path to freedom, and provide a warm embrace of solidarity to the LGBTQ+ people who desperately need it,” said Igor Savin, QARAVAN's community member and volunteer.

The rebranding marks a significant milestone in our organization’s journey as we continue to be a vital support network for our vibrant and exceedingly diverse community. For 17 years, we’ve built a refuge—offering safe spaces, peer support, emergency aid, and essential services for over 15,000 LGBTQ+ immigrants in New York City and beyond, and we will continue to do so under our new name, QARAVAN.

Our journey continues. Come with us!
